We awoke to find that we were in the rolling hills of The largest orange groves in Mexico. The fruit stands along side the road are filled with Orange vendors it is a beautiful sight they perch little shacks on on wooded frame works of old branches on the steep enges of the ditchs and sell their Oranges. It is candy to the eyes the lush Green jungle and Groves with all the Oranges hanging in sacks.
At times we are driving completly covered by trees on the roadways. Every town has and amazing Sculpture at the entrance. I'm struck by every one of them.
Every small town is crazy with activity We stopped in the small town of ????? we thought it might be a city of 5-10k but 380,000 lived there. We drove into the downtown and saw hundreds of taxis also hundreds of pickupo filled with people all nicly dressed going to church some times 20 sharp dressed people in the back of a pick up and cars filled with 10 people. Sunday is the busiest day in most of these town they have a open market and the streets are jammed with people. The people are so friendly once they realize that we are not aliens and we are friendly also. The minute we get off our bikes we try to make contact with people it seems to lesson the stareing. The route today was a biker dream red earth walls with palm trees shading the road with new pavement along with a mix of potholes. Three tolls today then at the last one we ran into 3 Americans with BMW adventures from Florida going to Cancun so we road with them for a few hours.
They told us that they had started with four guys but just yesterday Buddy did a front door onto his collar bone. Medical Insurance Med vaced him and his moto to the USA same day service. They are meeting the wives in Cancun leaving the bike there for a couple months then returning to ride them home. Any Canadians needing a rental car in Cancun in the next couple months I have Joe & Jim's Email ha ha. We stopped in a little town right on the Gulf of Mexico that is a summer resort town all the hotels are empty so we got or grinding skills out and got a room for $ 30 right on the ocean. I'm sitting in the owners office on the net right now talking with my wife and Parents free VIA WWW.SYKPE.com get it call us free.
Franseco and his cousin want to run away with us they settled for a seat on the bikes.

Got loaded headed to Tampico on the Gulf of Mexico. You really get a feeling of how free life is here and how I hate to use the word Blessed we are. One of the biggest questions in your mind is why do some have so much and some so little. The landscape has turned to lush almost jungle like. Passed lots of dead bloted cattle along the road even more dead dogs and cats. The smell of burning brush and taco stands are everywhere. Greg gets a warning for leading the speeding we carry on. We stopped this morning for Bfast in Gonzalaz at a Family owned restaurant along side the road beautiful place bonita people.

Tampico is a little more laided back than Chihuahua And Monterey. Tampico Vera Cruz are places the Spanish land in the 1500s the downtown in Tampico is filled with life and historia. Greg tries to pull a U turn at a no U turn corner with the Feds behind him, we get off again. We stopped in El centro (downtown) another amazing city center. As we stopped to get off our bikes hundreds of on looking Mexicans watched as we got off our bikes it felt a little weird. Then a cop comes by and asks us how long we are going to be parking there. We say only a few minutes he say I will have to give you a ticket but for you it is free. We just went down the block and saw him again he told us he would watch our bikes for us. Then he met us back at the bikes and escorted us all around the downtown and waterfront took pictures with us and showed us the gigantic Crocodiles.

It was really kind of funny people must have thought we were dignitary’s. So much for bad Cop’s in Mexico. He left us his cell# on the back of our free ticket and said any problems call me. Lazaro mi Amigo Gracias. We left Tampico via La Puente Tampico The Tampico Bridge is a 1 mile massive supention bridge that overlooks the entire city & habour. Strange thing is if you want to push your wheel barrow across the bridge traffic will just have to go around you. Blasted off to Ozuluama south of Tampico another buen comida good meal en la Pequneo Pueblo little village and ready for bed. Off to Vera Cruz Mananna.

Don’t even know what day of the week it is. Woke up in Saultillo got loaded and head to Monterey crazy twisty Hwy with lots of trucks. Starting to green up for the first time in 100s miles. I was only a few hours into Monterey. As we came down out of the mountains we could see the real strange peaks to the mountains. Kind of like animal shape not the jagged peaks we are use to. As we got closer to the city we could see a heavy smog settled over the city. The traffic in Monterey is crazy, we heard that Gonzalitos Ave. is one of the busiest streets is Mexico.
We stopped by the BMW Dealer they have both bikes and Cars. George the young manager of the BMW store turns out he spent Three years studing in Vancouver so we laughed, he gave us his cell# and said any thing we need call. George’s store makes our BMW in Kelowna look like a used car lot. The city of Monterey is very interesting it has Beautiful highrises some are royal blue or Orange and the shape are not just cubes., others are made of real Achitechtual stone I have not seen a fake rock anywhere. Contrasting these incredible buildings on the exact opposite side of the highway there are tiny little cinder block shacks dug into the side of the mountains, where thousands and thousands of people live. This city has every thing. As we left the city we passed miles of furniture Mfg. and stores with the most gorgous furniture I have ever seen, It was like driving from Westbank to Lake Country and all you see is furniture. The way out of town the landscape became extremely lush and green we passed miles of Orange groves and other plantations. We thought that we would make it to Victoria Ciudad. But got as far as the pueblo El Barretal. Pulled up to the Ranchco Posada only to realize later it was the last room. Sat around and had the evening spanglish with the night watch guys and two guys from Korea working in that area. It’s kind of cool cause at this level of conversation there is no BS it just good times and appreciating one another. This little place was a jewel cleanest place for hundreds of miles the motel sits right in the middle of an Orange Grove.
Jan 11thThursday, I was supposed to meet the boys at the A&W but had coffee in a small town called Jimenez few hours south of Chihuahua. We set a goal to get to Monterey. Jose escorted us out of Chihuahua.

In Mexico they have Carretera’s highways that are libre and Cobra free & pay the pay hwy are 4 lane no traffic few trucks and you can pour the ponies to it. The libre Hwy’s are 2 laners with the odd pothole and more trucks. After getting wacked $$$$$ by three cobra carretera’s we decided to save money and take the libre which parells the cobra only it passes through the small towns and Ejido Indian reservations. Each small town has massive speed bumps at each end then rumble strips to slow you down. At each bump & rumble there are Mexicans standing there selling food newspapers washing your winds. We always get the looks in these small towns the kids yell and we honk back or wave. We burned off 4 tanks 10 hours in the saddle and 770km. The landscape is very barren bushy Sage for miles on the left and not 200 yards to the right are the Serria Mountains they would rise up 2000’ almost vertical.

I is amazing how much work there is going on every were you look in Mexico the little Pueblo called Delicias is just gorgeous it is bustling with people but not a rat race. We over shot the daylight again and ended up in Saltillo rather than Monterey. Chihuahua 800-1mill Torreon 800-1mill Saltillo 1 mill Monterey 2-3 mill Tampico 1 mill VeraCruz 1 mill in-between are little town of a few thousand people. Very tired and need sleep. Rapped of a lot of miles today. It gets tuff to do the blog now because everything has changed to Spanish I get a lesson every time I log on. Love it
